Hundreds more GP practices offered limited protection from payroll tax — but only if they bulk-bill

GP practices in NSW are being offered payroll tax relief provided they bulk-bill at least 70% of patient consults.
The State Government says it will give GP practices payroll tax rebates; however, they will only apply to the “wages” of contractor GPs and not the salaries of other non-GP staff.
The new system will come into force on 4 September.
Until then, practices will be exempt from payroll tax being applied to the the earnings of their GPs.
