Hunt announces campaign for second COVID-19 booster

The Federal Government has accepted ATAGI advice for a “winter booster” COVID-19 shot for all patients aged 65 or older and other particularly vulnerable individuals.
The second booster is also advised for Indigenous people aged 50 or older, patients 16 and up who are severely immunocompromised, and those in disability care.
The extra dose can be given four months after the first booster, or, if the person has had SARS-CoV-2 infection, four months after that infection, the expert group says.
This is a change from its previous advice that people can be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as they recover from acute illness.
