‘I can’t go on forever’: Retired GP returns to help his struggling practice
With no support from the government, Dr John Chung's former colleagues have turned to him instead

Last April, Melbourne GP Dr John Chung hung up his stethoscope.
He had spent more than 40 years at the same practice in Frankston, a hard-luck suburb 40km from Melbourne’s CBD.
He had seen young patients grow up and bring in children of their own.
Less rewarding, he had also witnessed his work evolve from home visits and surgery to increasing bureaucracy, form filling and red tape.
