‘I can’t just sit here helplessly’: GP to deliver supplies to Ukraine

Dr Andriy Boyko has learned to get by on a lot less sleep while he has been hustling to source medical supplies for war-hit hospitals in his birth country of Ukraine.
From his home on the NSW north coast, the GP has raised almost $100,000 and arranged for 820kg of clinical equipment to go to a trauma hospital in Kyiv.
His efforts will also supply 7000 units of medication and thousands of cans of food for refugees in other parts of Ukraine.
Even though it has meant hours of extra work in the evenings and early mornings, Dr Boyko says the exercise has helped his own wellbeing in the aftermath of the Russian invasion two months ago.
