It has been headline news but since last year psychiatrists with approval from the TGA can prescribe psilocybin for treatment-resistant depression and MDMA for patients diagnosed with PTSD.
Only a small number have secured TGA approval so far. But Dr Nigel Strauss is one.
Under psychedelic-assisted therapy, patients generally go through a ‘dosing day’ during which they are supported through a psychedelic trip.
Then over the following weeks they undergo psychotherapy.
