GPs have challenged comedian Hamish Blake to sit in with them seeing patients, after he suggested he had enough “general medical knowledge” to get through a day’s consulting.

In the latest episode of the Hamish and Andy podcast, produced with his long-time comedy partner Andy Lee, Mr Blake claimed he could have a crack at being a GP for a day. 

“I say this with the greatest respect for this profession and I don’t want this to be confused with me saying you don’t need to train to be in this profession or that I don’t have respect and appreciation for them, ‘cos I use them,” the comedian said on the podcast released last week.

“But I honestly think that I could get through one day of being a GP.
