‘I donated sperm as a medical student, and now I have nine children’: A doctor’s remarkable story
Twenty years ago, Dr Darren Russell tragically lost his son. He was sixteen and Dr Russell’s only child.
He and his wife reconciled themselves to having no more children. But last June, in a bittersweet ‘bolt out of the blue’, they learnt he had a donor-conceived adult son.
Since then, he has discovered eight other donor-conceived offspring, most of whom he is now in contact with.
Some call him Darren; some call him ‘father’ and refer to him as ‘grandpa’ with their own children.
