‘I knew they wouldn’t let me back into medicine’: GP speaks to AusDoc after serving prison time
Dr Patrick Hart says he has lost hope of ever working as a GP again after serving four months in prison and receiving a 10-month suspension from practice.
The UK doctor was sent to Chelmsford Prison in January after smashing 16 petrol pumps with a hammer in 2022 to protest the lack of action on climate change.
After three months of pushing bins around, he moved to the low-security Hollesley Bay Prison on England’s east coast in early April.
“There, I spent my time in the library, mostly reading and studying, and walking around the grounds,” Dr Hart told AusDoc.
