Before going to medical school, becoming a hospital doctor, and beginning his training to become a psychiatrist, Dr Ben Bravery was working as a zoologist when he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.

It was just more than 10 years ago.

“I was suffering a lot at the time,” he says. “I was constipated, I had cramps and I was losing weight and there were times when I was fainting.”

“When they did the colonoscopy, they found the tumour in the sigmoid colon,” he tells 6minutes.
