‘I was back in bed by 11am,’ says doctor with long COVID

A well-known oncologist has described her battle with “crushing” long COVID, warning much more needs to be done to curb infections and their long-term impacts.
Melbourne-based radiation oncologist and anti-tobacco campaigner Dr Bronwyn King is now calling on governments to “rethink” strategies on mask wearing, air quality and public messaging with long COVID.
Dr King had COVID-19 at the end of February and although it was not a severe initial infection, weeks of ongoing nausea, heart palpitations and “crushing fatigue” have followed.
“It ended up that virtually every day I’d start the day and have a couple of hours being pretty good and functional and then, all of a sudden, I’d find myself back in bed at about 11am,” Dr King told Radio 3AW.
