‘I was ignorant of my ignorance’: Ex-pharmacist brands Queensland trial a menace
An ex-pharmacist who retrained as a GP has issued a warning to his former colleagues who want to start prescribing for complex conditions, saying, “I didn’t know what I didn’t know.”
Dr Mark Raines spent more than a decade as a pharmacist in the 1980s and ’90s, but he now works as a GP in the North Queensland city of Mackay, one of the communities targeted by the State Government for its trial.
Australian Doctor: As a former pharmacist, why are you so alarmed by this trial proposal?
Dr Mark Raines: On one level, it’s what other doctors have said – the conflicts of interest.
