‘If I die, it will be your fault’: Practice staff abused daily after city’s GPs close their books
Abuse of staff is a daily phenomenon at Hawkins Medical Clinic.
The GP practice has 20,000 registered patients from across Mount Gambier, SA’s second-largest city, the surrounding regions and Western Victoria.
However, it closed its books more than two years ago, and other Mount Gambier practices, including Ferrers Medical Clinic and Village Medical Centre, have since followed.
Patients unable to land an appointment anywhere in Mount Gambier then turned against practice staff.
