Ignore the naysayers? GP trainees are happy
Despite being battered and buffeted by the COVID-19 pandemic, GP trainees seem as a whole very happy with their career choice, happy with their training and happy with their working lives.
While there will be debate, the findings of the 2020 Medical Training Survey also suggest that when it comes to their core business, the RACGP, ACRRM, the RTOs and GP supervisors should feel happy too.
The survey, conducted last year by the Medical Board of Australia, received responses from 21,000 doctors — interns, prevocational and unaccredited trainees as well as specialist trainees.
The topics ranged from the quality of their clinical supervision, their RTOs and their college’s exams to their well-being and experiences of workplace bulling and harassment.
