‘Infallible, magical and miraculous’: GP telehealth clinic faces court over alleged cannabis claims

The TGA has launched court action against cannabis company Montu, its telehealth clinic Alternaleaf and its CEO, alleging they have broken drug advertising rules 226 times.
In Federal Court of Australia filings, the watchdog alleges that the Alternaleaf website and social media accounts made statements that medicinal cannabis was “infallible, unfailing, magical or miraculous”.
It also alleges that Alternaleaf — which says it employs some 80 GPs — referred to 26 serious conditions including ADHD, asthma, spinal fractures, ligament damage and migraine in breach of TGA advertising laws.
A spokesperson for Montu said the company would “vigorously” defend the proceedings.
