‘Inspiring journeys out of real hardship’: Why this GP wanted to work at Headspace

The NT's GP of the Year says job satisfaction trumps remuneration.

“Young people I have seen over difficult periods lasting several years, I later find out are married and working in a stable job or studying.  

“These are inspiring journeys, coming out of places of real disadvantage and hardship.” 

Dr Chris Vladcoff is talking about the patients he has treated out of Darwin Headspace, where he runs a private general practice as part of its Enhanced Care Program for patients aged 12-25 with mental illness. 

This week, he was named the NT’s GP of the Year by the RACGP.
