Is the government’s new $300 aged care incentive a fair deal for GPs?

A “kick in the guts”, “disappointing” and “ludicrous” are how some GPs have described the Federal Government’s proposed new aged care incentive.
Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler announced on Wednesday that GPs would receive $300 a year per aged care patient as part of the MyMedicare enrolment scheme.
Another $130 would go to the practice.
The incentive is scheduled to begin in August 2024, with almost 200,000 patients eligible.
