Is the govt’s Scope of Practice Review already set on pharmacist prescribing?

The signs are ominous, but that does not mean GPs have lost the battle, says RACGP president Dr Nicole Higgins.

In just a few days, the Federal Government’s Scope of Practice Review will start showing its hand.

When Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler launched the review last year, he christened it ‘Unleashing the Potential of our Health Workforce’.

The review’s first paper hinted at changes like allowing allied health referrals to non-GP specialists.

It is expected that its next paper will set out the cold, hard policy options.
