Is the medical board’s mandatory CPD regime still a waste of time? AusDoc survey results

When mass misery first descended in response to the Medical Board of Australia’s revamped CPD regime, AusDoc interviewed its then-chair, Dr Anne Tonkin.

We pointed out that most doctors we surveyed at the time felt that most of it was in the words of one doctor, a ‘soul-destroying, form-filling, foolish endeavour’, particularly the demand to write up a professional development plan (PDP).

“Well, I just have to agree to disagree with them,” Dr Tonkin said. “Because I think it is a useful thing to do and I just suspect with time, more people will find that targeting their CPD is a useful thing to do.”

Based on the results of the AusDoc survey we ran this month, that does not seem to have happened.
