Is the RACGP bringing telehealth corporates in from the cold?

Dr Rob Hosking says the RACGP does not want asynchronous consultations completely banned, as they can be safely used by a patient's long-term GP.

The RACGP has a new position statement on telehealth-only services, stressing the importance of continuity of care and using real-time prescription monitoring.

It contains warnings that telehealth-only services should not replace routine in-person care, and that the college wants regulators to crack down on “predatory marketing tactics”.

But does the statement’s mere existence allow these clinics to sell themselves as legitimate GP care, even those that solely prescribe medicinal cannabis or weight loss medicines?

Isn’t GP care meant to be holistic?
