‘It’s a democratic process’: RACP president says she will not block $200,000 vote to oust her rival

The president of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians says she will not attempt to block the second EGM vote to prevent her successor from taking over as president.
The declaration by Professor Jennifer Martin comes as senior college members call on regulators to intervene to pull the college out of its “destructive spiral”.
The EGM, which will cost the college $200,000, is set for 26 November, with college members to again vote on removing Dr Sharmila Chandran as president-elect. Triggered by the same people behind the first EGM against her, this time it will require a majority to be passed.
She already came out on top at an EGM two weeks ago on exactly the same issue, where she secured 65% of the vote.
