A leader of a high-profile anti-euthanasia group has condemned the tactics of protesters pushing the cause outside a major cancer hospital in Victoria.

A group of protesters have targeted cancer patients and their families entering Melbourne’s Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre over the past week, handing out leaflets warning of patient “executions” when euthanasia becomes legal in the state in two months’ time.

“From 19th June, doctors in Victoria may legally assist patients to commit suicide by prescribing poisons innocently called ‘medications’ for them and may kill patients by giving the prescribed poisons if patients say they cannot kill themselves,” the leaflets say.

“So doctor-prescribed suicides and state-sanctioned extra-judicial executions will be legal here at Peter Mac.”
