The GP being sued by a high-profile US naturopath over videos debunking her dangerous health advice has confirmed the pair have reached a “mutually acceptable” out-of-court settlement.

For nearly three years, Dr Adam Smith has been preparing to defend allegations he defamed Farrah Agustin-Bunch, who markets various alternative therapies to some four million Facebook followers.

He says he has been working seven days a week in an attempt to cover at least some of his $700,000 in legal costs.

In a series of social media videos, the Melbourne GP pulled apart her advice — aimed at health illiterate patients in the Philippines, where Ms Agustin-Bunch once ran a cancer clinic.
