The place where ‘cancer specialists’ and ‘physicians’ don’t need medical degrees — welcome to the NHS

It has been described as a “duplicitous, dishonest and reckless” new low for doctors in the UK — a poster campaign directed at patients with the promise: “The physician will see you now.”
The idea was to inform patients about new staff working in local GP practices.
But the “physician” pictured was not a doctor, had no medical degree and certainly had not attained fellowship.
In reality, she was one of a new breed of health workers now being employed across the NHS as a workforce fix: a physician associate.
