Doctors outside of registered IVF clinics will be able to carry out artificial insemination for the first time in Victoria, giving those in regional areas greater access to fertility services, under proposed changes to the state’s assisted reproductive laws.

The bill will also allow nurses and other health professionals within registered assisted reproductive treatment clinics to carry out procedures under the supervision and direction of a doctor.
