Just 4 in 10 doctors trust the medical board: AHPRA survey

COVID-19 contributed to a fall in trust, the results suggested.

Doctors’ trust in the Medical Board of Australia has plummeted, according to new data, which highlight concerns over the board’s response to COVID-19 and vaccine mandates.

A survey conducted by AHPRA in late 2021 and released on Tuesday found that just 38% of 1509 doctors trusted the medical board.

This compared with 51% of doctors surveyed in 2020.

Key causes of mistrust were a perceived lack of support for doctors, “distant bureaucrats” and opinions on COVID-19 vaccination.
