Latest 'Viagra' for women wins FDA approval
New auto-inject therapy has advantages, but 40% had nausea as side effect

Dubbed a female Viagra, bremelanotide, a medication to restore sexual desire in premenopausal women, has recently been approved by the US drug regulator.

Bremelanotide (Vyleesi, by Amag Pharmaceuticals), activates pathways in the brain involved in sexual desire, helping premenopausal women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder.
The drug is administered into the abdomen or thigh using an auto-injector at least 45 minutes before anticipated sexual activity.
