Leading doctors have accused the University of Melbourne of attacking free speech through intimidation after it charged 21 student protestors with misconduct.

In May the students, who include a medical school student, occupied the Arts West Building for 10 days in protests against Israel-Gaza war and concerns about the university’s links with the arms industry.

The university has refused to reveal the specific allegations against the students who took part.

However, media reports claim the university sent the students zoomed-in stills of themselves taken from CCTV as evidence of their alleged wrongdoing.
