‘Like Tinder for doctors’: Registrar breaks up with agencies to start his own locum recruitment app

A surgical registrar who resorted to cold-calling hospitals to find locum jobs has built an app that he hopes will compete with locum agencies.
With politicians questioning the value of agencies — the NSW Government paid $37 million in commissions in just one year — Victorian registrar Dr Anu Ganugapati wants doctors to play the field with his app StatDoctor.
“My co-founder likes to call it Tinder for doctors,” he explains.
After finding agencies too slow, Dr Ganugapati took to calling up hospitals himself to spruik his services.
