Local GP practice chosen to reopen collapsed Medicare urgent care clinic

The clinic will reopen after building works are completed.

An urgent care clinic that closed its doors after the operator entered liquidation earlier this year will reopen under the management of a local GP practice, the Federal Government has announced.

The closure of the clinic in Mount Gambier, SA’s second-largest city, has piled pressure on local practices already dealing with abusive patients due to GPs across the city closing their books.

The urgent care clinic’s first operator, Paion Medical, entered liquidation in February.

The liquidators managed to keep the clinic open until June.
