Low libido and hair loss common in long COVID, GP medical records show
GPs can expect patients with long COVID to complain of low libido and hair loss, according to an analysis of UK patients’ medical records.
In addition to shortness of breath and anosmia, the University of Birmingham researchers say they were surprised to discover a wider set of symptoms than had been previously described.
After comparing data from 486,000 primary care patients with a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection to 1.9 million matched controls, the team identified 62 symptoms associated with post-acute COVID-19 syndrome.
After adjusting for age, BMI and other risk factors, patients with long COVID were about 2.5 times more likely to report reduced libido and ejaculation difficulty compared to controls.
