It’s coming up to 50 years since the world was rocked by the mysterious death of one of the most influential martial artist of all time — Bruce Lee, who died aged 32 in Hong Kong on 20 July 1973.

Lee’s official cause of death is listed as cerebral oedema caused by hypersensitivity to Equagesic, an aspirin/meprobamate combination drug, with no signs of external injuries or tongue bite at autopsy.

However, speculation over the pop culture icon’s true case of death never truly abated and theories abound from the ordinary to the outlandish.

Did he die from epilepsy or cannabis use? Was he assassinated by the mafia? Or did he fall victim to a ‘family curse’ that also claimed the lives of his older brother at three months and his son at 28 years?
