Man acquires aplastic anaemia after coronavirus infection: case

He developed severe aplastic anaemia despite asymptomatic coronavirus infection

A previously healthy young man acquired severe aplastic anaemia after contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus, US doctors report.

The 21-year-old student presented to hospital with a nosebleed that had continued for two hours, a sore throat and petechiae of the oropharynx.

He reported blood-filled blisters had formed in his mouth one week before; however, they had resolved spontaneously.

He had also developed a sore throat two days earlier, although he had no difficulty with swallowing.
