Man loses hearing in the wake of life-threatening coronavirus

Permanent hearing loss could be a rare complication of COVID-19, doctors warn.
Otolaryngologists have published the first UK case report of sudden-onset sensorineural hearing loss in a 45-year-old man who spent 30 days on a ventilator during treatment for coronavirus infection.
The patient had asthma but “was otherwise fit and well” before the infection, they say.
While in hospital he was on a range of common medicines including doxazosin, lansoprazole, loratadine and ramipril but no ototoxic medications were administered.
