Mark Butler wants to ‘unleash’ pharmacists and nurses with scope of practice review

Pharmacists and nurses will be able to push for more GP-type roles as part of a Federal Government review into scope of practice.
Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler formally started the review, titled ‘Unleashing the Potential of our Health Workforce’, on Thursday.
The terms of reference are not yet public, but the review follows up a recommendation from the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce in February for governments to “review barriers and incentives for all professionals to work to their full scope of practice”.
In a statement, Mr Butler called out potentially expanded roles for pharmacists and nurses.
