MBS heart checks: time limit lowered, but confusion remains

The new heart assessment MBS item will have a minimum time threshold of 20 minutes, rather than 30, after GPs pointed out it wouldn’t be worth their time claiming.
But even though the item is meant to be in place on April Fool’s Day, there is still confusion over the rebates that will be paid and even whether the item requires doctors to conduct an absolute CV risk assessment — as wanted by the Heart Foundation.
