Measles outbreak reaches 13 cases including local transmission in a waiting room

Doctors are being encouraged to give masks to patients with fever and rash amid a measles cluster that has hit 13 cases, including four locally acquired cases.
Victoria’s Department of Health says almost all patients in the Melbourne outbreak were not fully vaccinated.
“In one instance, transmission occurred in a primary care waiting room,” they said in an alert to doctors on Friday.
They urged doctors to suspect measles in any patient with fever and rash, particularly patients who had visited metropolitan Melbourne in the last 7-18 days or recently returned from overseas travel.
