Medical board bans GP from performing circumcisions

Dr Hershel Goldman is seeking a stay of conditions preventing him from carrying out circumcisions, imposed by the Medical Board of Australia last month.
The Melbourne GP has appealed the restrictions before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, which heard the matter last week but is yet to publish its decision.
In 2020, he spoke to AusDoc about his decision to become a mohel as a way of becoming more involved with the Jewish community.
He estimated he had performed at least 5000 circumcisions since the mid-80s, although he had not kept count.
