MedicalDirector now has paperless pathology requests. Could this be the end of the fax?
Telstra Health product executive Dr Jennifer Beer says paper pathology requests were surprisingly difficult to achieve on a technical level.
To other industries, the fanfare around the announcement surely seems quaint.
Telstra Health has launched new eRequesting software, integrated with its subsidiary MedicalDirector, that lets GPs order pathology from their desktop GP software with no paper required.
The software, called Smart Connect, launched last month, although only Healius Pathology Network is signed up to receive the requests so far.
That’s still more than 2000 collection centres while Telstra pursues additional pathology providers and, longer term, radiology providers.
