Medicare rebate rises to $70 for GPs inserting IUDs
The new rebate is still well short of the $150 fee the RACGP recommended back in 2018
The Medicare rebate for IUD insertion has risen nearly $30, with the Federal Government accepting recommendations from the MBS Review Taskforce to boost uptake of the procedure.
From 1 March, the fee for item 33503 — which covers IUD insertion for abnormal uterine bleeding and contraception — rises to $83.40, up from $55.70.
