Approvals for medicinal cannabis prescriptions continue to rise, with TGA data showing GPs applied for more than three times as many scripts in 2021 as two years ago.
The number of approved prescribers in the Special Access Scheme has also increased from 493 in 2018 to 3651 this year.
GPs have been free to prescribe cannabis products since 2017.
Between January and September 2021, some 86,400 prescription approvals were given by the TGA.
