‘Medicine felt like an Uber service’: GP explains why he and other UK doctors are heading Down Under

It is just three days into Dr Ernest Wong’s new GP posting.
Recently arrived from the UK, he was flown in a small aircraft from Adelaide to the remote community of Wudinna by his pilot and supervising GP, Dr Scott Lewis.
They landed Sunday, did clinics together on Monday and Tuesday, then it came time for Dr Lewis to leave.
“On Tuesday evening, he gave me the keys to the local hospital, saying, ‘Right, I need to be back in Adelaide. So, off you go,’” Dr Wong says.
