Indemnity provider wants ‘minimum standards’ set for AI scribes used in consults

Avant's Georgie Haysom says doctors face the burden of assessing whether their AI scribes comply with privacy laws.

A technology expert’s clash with a doctor over an AI scribe has highlighted the risks facing GPs using the unregulated software, Avant warns.

Dr Kobi Leins (PhD) has accused a doctor of telling her to go elsewhere after she refused to consent to use of an AI scribe during a consultation for her child.

She told the website Information Age she did not want information on her child “anywhere near” the software.

When contacted for this story, Dr Leins referred AusDoc back to the Information Age article, which did not identify the doctor or practice.
