MediSecure: GP prescription software hit by ransomware hack

MediSecure, the prescription software company that stopped processing PBS scripts last year, has been hit by a ransomware cyber attack.
Neither the company nor the government have confirmed exactly what data was stolen, but MediSecure said “the personal and health information of individuals” was hacked.
It was originally launched in 2009 as RACGP-backed script software and was meant to rival eRx, which is partly owned by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
The company has now closed its public website, except for a statement about the attack published on Thursday.
