Meet the seven GPs battling to become the RACGP’s next president

Seven GPs are in the race to become the next RACGP president.
The presidential candidates launched their campaigns to follow Adjunct Clinical Professor Karen Price last week, with boosting Medicare rebates, putting an end to pharmacy prescribing trials and expanding the RACGP’s role as a political lobby group high on the agenda.
The next president will also have to grapple with the transition to college-run GP training, as well as the Federal Government’s new Strengthening Medicare Taskforce, with its promise to develop a model for GP voluntary patient registration.
Professor Brad Murphy, a Kamilaroi man, is hoping to make history as the first First Nations president of any Australian medial college.
