An incredible 50 specialists have received honours on the King’s Birthday — from those with achievements in federal Parliament to prolific researchers and leaders in difficult clinical fields, such as fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

Professor Katie Allen AO

Professor Katie Allen, who died last year of cholangiocarcinoma, was posthumously recognised for distinguished service to medical research as a paediatric allergist and gastroenterologist, as well as for her time as a federal MP from 2019 to 2022.

She led influential research into food allergy at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, including the HealthNuts study.
