Dr Duncan Graham: Meet the doctor turned barrister who represents medical negligence plaintiffs

'I do not really get motivated for a case unless I believe in the medicine — as in, medically, there is a case there, rather than clutching at straws,' he says.

As barrister Dr Duncan Graham puts it, he has joined the “forces of darkness”.

Once a doctor, he is now a lawyer representing patients in medical negligence cases.

But he remains empathetic to his former colleagues, and their frustrations that seemingly baseless or ill-conceived cases continue to make it to the inside of a courtroom.

“These days, medical negligence has become somewhat of a sausage factory type process,” he tells AusDoc.
