MenB vax catch-up program should be permanent: PBAC
The meningococcal B vaccination catch-up program for Indigenous children should become a permanent fixture on the NIP, the PBAC has recommended.
Since 2020, the National Immunisation Program (NIP) has funded three doses of GSK’s Bexsero for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children at two, four and 12 months of age.
Those with additional risk factors such as sickle cell disease are eligible for an extra dose of the recombinant vaccine at six months.
All Indigenous children aged under two years have been eligible for a catch-up program — two doses given eight weeks apart.
