Millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses heading for landfill
Millions of doses of Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine appear headed for landfill as their expiry date approaches.
Only 220,000 doses of Nuvaxovid have been administered so far, according to TGA data.
This compares with the roughly 13 million doses shipped to Australia in early 2022.
While the TGA has extended recommended shelf life from six months to nine months, short of a drastic turn of events, it seems likely that most doses will end up in the bin.
