Mini budget: Indigenous patients added to enrolment plan

GPs will be paid for enrolling Indigenous patients aged 50 or over with chronic illnesses under the Federal Government’s next big plan for general practice.
The move, announced in the government’s mid-financial year budget update on Monday, is an expansion of its new enrolment policy for all patients aged 70 or over with at least one chronic condition.
There are still no details on how the reforms, due in July and designed to promote the Health Care Homes concept, will work. Nor details on the scale of the enrolment fee.
However, more than $450 million has been allocated over the coming three years.
