Mark Butler does it: Minister announces 60-day dispensing for 325 medicines

The pips of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia have finally squeaked.
Depending on your perspective, you can thank or blame Dr Monique Ryan, who will probably be struck from the guild’s Christmas card list this year.
The neurologist turned independent MP is one big reason why GPs will now be free to offer patients 60-day dispensing in scripts for around 325 medications — including statins and PPIs — covering a string conditions from hypertension to Crohn’s disease.
It will be a staged rollout, with the first wave of some 100 medications subject to the new rules from 1 September this year.
